Allego, HOFER to build major EV charging network across Slovenia
Nearly 50 HOFER stores to feature 24/7 ultra-fast charging by the end of 2026.
Allego is partnering with HOFER to build one of Slovenia’s largest networks of ultra-fast electric vehicle (EV) chargers, with plans to install stations at nearly 50 stores by the end of 2026. The rollout will give customers 24/7 access to high-speed charging while they shop, supporting the country’s growing shift toward e-mobility.
EV adoption in Slovenia has accelerated in recent years: in 2024, 26% of newly registered cars were hybrids and 6% were fully electric, according to the national statistics office. HOFER’s widespread retail footprint and environmental commitments made the company a natural partner for expanding charging access.
HOFER selected Allego for its reliability and international expertise. “We entrusted Allego to build a network of ultra-fast charging stations on our properties, offering customers a dependable and competitive service,” said Marko Mravljak, HOFER’s operational director. The first site opened recently in Škofja Loka.
Allego’s operational director, Christian Zeh, said the goal is to make charging a seamless part of daily routines. “Each new location brings us closer to carefree e-mobility and strengthens our path to becoming a leading operator in Slovenia,” he said.
Where possible, HOFER sites will feature ultra-fast chargers delivering up to 400 kW, enabling drivers to add significant range during a single shopping trip. All chargers will be installed on HOFER-owned outdoor parking areas and listed both on HOFER’s website and public charging maps.
Drivers will be able to pay using more than 400 eMSP charging cards, Allego’s Plug & Charge service, or, starting in late 2025, contactless bank card payments-
The partnership represents a major investment in modernizing mobility infrastructure while improving convenience for HOFER shoppers and other EV drivers.
