Allego, Uber cut EV charging costs for taxi drivers in the Netherlands
New agreement offers up to 50% off off‑peak fast charging across Allego’s Dutch HPC network.
Uber has entered a long‑term partnership with Allego to make e-mobility more affordable for taxi drivers using the Uber app in the Netherlands. Under the agreement, drivers will receive up to 50% discounts per kWh during off‑peak hours at Allego’s nationwide network of high‑power chargers (HPC).
The off‑peak window runs from 17:00 to 10:00 during the winter period, aligning with typical charging routines such as before or after a driver’s workday. According to the companies, shifting charging activity to these hours helps drivers reduce costs while easing pressure on the electricity grid during high‑demand periods.
Emiel van Steensel, Head of Network Development for Allego Netherlands, said: “This partnership makes smart charging tangible for taxi drivers: transparent pricing, no surcharges, and benefits aligned with daily driver behavior. It helps drivers manage costs, reduces grid pressure when needed, and makes the charging network more efficient.”
Allego operates one of the most extensive charging networks in the Netherlands, with around 60 fast‑charging stations and 10,000 AC charge points. Through the partnership, Uber drivers can charge on both networks, while benefiting from HPC discounts at fast‑charging locations.

A key component of the collaboration is transparent pricing. Drivers using the Allego app will avoid roaming fees or additional surcharges at partner networks, ensuring they always pay the displayed rate, a principle the company calls “what you see is what you pay.”
