Amazon reportedly planning to open convenience stores
E-commerce giant Amazon plans to put up physical convenience stores and drive-in locations, according to Convenience Store News citing a Wall Street Journal report.
The stores would sell perishable goods including meat, produce, milk as well as items with longer shelf lives, such as peanut butter and cereal.
Under the company’s ‘Project Como’, these stores are currently planned exclusively for Amazon Fresh members. Amazon Fresh is a food delivery service whose membership fee costs $15 a month.
The drive-in locations, on the other hand, would serve as pick-up points of groceries ordered online.
