Aramco, BYD join forces to advance new energy vehicle technologies
Joint development agreement aims to foster innovation in low-carbon mobility solutions.
Aramco and BYD have announced a strategic collaboration to accelerate innovation in new energy vehicle (NEV) technologies, with the aim to support the development of sustainable transportation solutions.
The partnership was formalized through a Joint Development Agreement signed by Saudi Aramco Technologies Company (SATC), a wholly owned subsidiary of Aramco, and BYD, a global leader in electric vehicles. This agreement seeks to harness the strengths of both companies’ research and development teams to pursue breakthroughs in efficiency and environmental performance for NEVs.
“From innovative lower-carbon fuels to advanced powertrain concepts, we believe multiple approaches are necessary to support a practical energy transition,” said Ali A. Al-Meshari, Aramco’s Senior Vice President of Technology Oversight & Coordination.
As a major global energy player, Aramco is exploring a wide range of low-carbon transport solutions, while BYD continues to push the boundaries of e-mobility.
“We expect this partnership to incubate solutions that deliver both high efficiency and a lower carbon footprint, supporting global efforts to address climate change,” added Luo Hongbin, Senior Vice President of BYD.
The partnership between Aramco and BYD reflects a shared commitment to advancing cleaner mobility options, and marks an example of cross-sector cooperation in the landscape of sustainable transportation.
