Argentina: YPF, Toyota strengthen ties to increase services and renewables
The new agreement could see YPF’s 1,500 stations become centres for car rentals.
The president of YPF, Miguel Gutiérrez, and the president of Toyota Argentina, Daniel Herrero, signed a framework agreement that deepens the joint work of both companies in the field of innovation, technology, research and mobility.
They also agreed to generate services for vehicles manufactured in Argentina by Toyota and confirmed that they will expand the temporary car rental platform of the Japanese company to more than 1,500 service stations.
"This new step in the strategic alliance with YPF represents Toyota's commitment to continue to work on continuous improvement, through different agreements that are mutual trust and in the long term, which in turn allow us to continue to work together offering increasingly better products and services to our customers," said Daniel Herrero, president of Toyota Argentina.
Gutierrez confirmed that the company is moving toward "a new orientation of service stations," which not only sell fuels but that "can provide a range of additional services.”
As part of the partnership between the two companies, since the middle of last year, YPF Luz has supplied 25% of Toyota's current electricity consumption with renewable energy, with a commitment to cover 100% of its consumption by 2020.
