Australian antitrust authority says fuel price declines in West Australia came too late
The Australian antitrust authority, known for its acronym ACCC, has said that recent fuel price declines in regions of central and western Australia took way too long, according to a report published May 11 by Australian media ABC.
In the three months to March, petrol prices fell by nearly 16% in an area named Cowra, 15% in Mudgee and 12% in Wellington while in other areas like Nyngan have only declined 0.7%, according to the report.
Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) Chairman, Rod Sims, says regional prices have been slow to reflect change in the global oil market.
The ACCC Chairman Rod Sims said that international crude oil price declines should have warranted much faster declines, particularly in remote areas.
