bp pulse opens major EV charging hub near Chicago O’Hare
New site with 40 ultrafast bays strengthens EV infrastructure in Illinois and marks bp pulse’s sixth airport hub in 2025.
bp pulse has launched a new electric vehicle (EV) charging hub just three miles from Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport (ORD), one of the largest in Illinois. The site features 40 ultrafast charging bays equipped with 400kW and 150kW DC fast chargers, CCS and NACS connectors, and a covered canopy for comfort.
This opening marks bp pulse’s sixth major airport hub in 2025, following similar sites near LAX, BOS, SFO, FLL, and HOU. The hubs are designed to provide ride-hail and local EV drivers with fast, reliable charging in high-demand locations. Drivers can also enjoy nearby amenities, including a bp-branded retail store, coffee shop, and restaurants.
“Opening our sixth major airport hub is a significant milestone in our commitment to expanding our EV charging network across the United States,” said Sujay Sharma, CEO of bp pulse Americas. “By strategically placing our hubs in high-demand locations like airports, we’re making it easier for drivers to access the fast and reliable charging they need.”
The launch event included a ribbon cutting and remarks from bp pulse leadership, local officials, and partners such as ComEd, which contributed a $500,000 rebate through its Make Ready Rebate program. Illinois EPA also supported the project with a $320,000 grant under its Driving a Cleaner Illinois Program.
With more than 40,000 charge points globally, bp pulse continues to grow its U.S. network, integrating EV charging across bp’s retail sites and new destinations to meet rising demand for cleaner transportation.
