Burkina fuel retailer safety program stresses need to protect environment

A fuel retailer in Burkina Faso said in mid June that the current safety campaign involving its 49-station network is not just focused on personal safety but also to protect the environment because that is a way to give back to the communities which host the company operations.

Nabalma Silmiraogo , general director of Vivo Energy Burkina, said during a day specially set aside to mark the importance of safety, that his company “is engaged in putting safety in the heart of all its activities so as not to cause prejudice to humans or the environment” as a principle of social responsibility.

Vivo Energy Burkina was created in March 2012 and like other Vivo Energy companies across Africa retails Shell fuels and lubricants. Most of the 49 sations offer the Shell card as well as Shell Shops.

Besides retailing fuel in stations the company has an association with Vitol Aviation for marine, aviation and bulk fuel sales to mining clients both in Burkina Faso and Botswana.
