Carrefour partners with Vusion to scale smart stores across France
Carrefour will roll out millions of cloud connected electronic shelf labels, smart rails and AI powered sensors.
Carrefour has signed a strategic partnership with retail‑tech firm Vusion to accelerate the digital transformation of its French hypermarkets and supermarkets as part of its “Carrefour 2030” plan. The agreement marks one of Europe’s largest deployments of in‑store digital technology, following Vusion’s expansion in the US with Walmart.
Under the deal, Carrefour will roll out millions of cloud‑connected electronic shelf labels, smart rails and AI‑powered sensors aimed at improving operational efficiency and customer experience. The retailer will also join Vusion’s International Advisory Board, positioning itself to influence emerging technology standards in the sector.
Carrefour CEO Alexandre Bompard said the collaboration supports the group’s push toward automation, AI integration and enhanced workplace quality. “By partnering with Vusion, we push our stores into a new era,” he said, describing digital shelves as a foundation for modern retail.
Vusion chief executive Thierry Gadou highlighted Carrefour as the first major European retailer to adopt the company’s latest platform at scale. The goal, he said, is to boost store performance while improving satisfaction for both shoppers and employees.
The alliance is expected to support Carrefour’s financial and operational targets by improving productivity, reducing stock shortages, strengthening e‑commerce order preparation and opening new retail‑media opportunities.
Both companies will also co‑develop future innovations through a joint “Next Retail Experience Center,” focusing on AI, agent‑based commerce and in‑store data activation.
