Casey’s grows Texas footprint with Pak-A-Sak deal
Acquisition adds 24 convenience stores in the Texas Panhandle, strengthening Casey’s presence in the Amarillo area.
Casey’s General Stores has agreed to acquire all 24 Pak-A-Sak convenience stores, expanding its network in Texas and bringing one of the Texas Panhandle’s best-known local convenience chains into its portfolio.
The stores are primarily located in and around Amarillo, a market where Casey’s is seeking to strengthen its regional presence. Financial terms of the transaction and an expected closing date have not been disclosed, as reported by ABC 7.
Pak-A-Sak was founded in 1978 by Dale and Joyce McKee with a single store in Canyon, Texas. Over nearly five decades, the company grew to 24 locations across the Texas Panhandle and is currently operated by the third generation of the McKee family.
In a statement shared with local media, the McKee family said the decision follows three generations of ownership and development of the business.
“For three generations, Pak-A-Sak has been more than a business to our family — it has been our life’s work,” the family said. “We have grown from a single location into a staple of the Texas Panhandle, and that success is due entirely to the dedication, hard work, and heart of our employees.”
The family added that Casey’s was selected as the buyer because of shared values focused on community involvement, quality and a family-oriented culture.
The addition of the Pak-A-Sak stores is expected to increase Casey’s scale in the Texas Panhandle while extending its reach in a region where the acquired chain has built a strong local presence.
