Colombia’s Terpel gets Mercedes Benz certification for lubricant

Colombian fuel retailer Terpel said it has received a certification from vehicle manufacturer Mercedes Benz that comes on top of API and other certifications for products of its heavy duty lubricant line, the company said in January in a press release.

Mercedes Benz approved the Lubricante Terpel Maxter 15W40 Advanced in a process that followed those of prior approvals of other manufacturers like Volvo, Mack, Renault and Cummins, the company said.

Juan Pablo Giraldo, vice president of Lubricantes Terpel, said the Mercedes Benz and the others approvals act like a guaranty for users.

Terpel has a network which includes over 2,000 service stations, 29 fuel supply plants and it also has operations in 20 airports in Colombia, company officials have told PetrolPlaza.

In addition, through the Terpel-Gazel brand, which is a brand just for natural gas for vehicle use, the company has nearly 47% of that market in Colombia.

Besides Colombia, the company has operations in several Latin American countries.
