Copec has formalised its acquisition of a 70% stake in Procafecol Chile, the operator of the Juan Valdez coffee chain in the country, marking a significant push into the convenience and quick‑service sector. The deal includes the 65% previously held by Falabella and an additional 5% purchased from the Colombian parent company. Procafecol Colombia will retain a 30% share.

The company, part of the Angelini Group, assumed operational control on 1 March. Copec described the move as part of a long‑term strategy to expand its food‑to‑go offer. CEO Arturo Natho said the brand brings “recognition and value” while aligning with Copec’s focus on quality and customer experience.

Juan Valdez currently operates 28 stores in Chile, mostly in high‑traffic urban locations and shopping centres. Copec plans to nearly double that number to around 60 outlets over the medium term, though it has not specified a timeline. The company also aims to strengthen e‑commerce, delivery and institutional sales, and introduce new formats, including store‑in‑station concepts at Copec service areas.
