Copec Voltex, Porsche launch new charging corridor in Chile
The new “Ruta Lagos del Sur” network adds six charging points across key tourism destinations in southern Chile.
Copec Voltex and Porsche have launched a new electric vehicle (EV) corridor in southern Chile, expanding charging infrastructure across the Los Ríos and Los Lagos regions to support long‑distance, zero‑emission travel.
The “Ruta Lagos del Sur” corridor introduces six new destination charging points located at key tourism sites, including hotels near lakes Llanquihue, Ranco and Villarrica. The project aims to address range limitations in remote areas by enabling EV drivers to move more easily between major natural attractions.
The initiative builds on previous collaborations between Copec Voltex and Porsche and integrates charging technology with Porsche’s global Destination Charging program. The rollout continues a broader strategy to link infrastructure development with travel and regional mobility, particularly in areas where charging access has been more limited.
The new sites are equipped with 22 kW chargers, installed at hospitality locations where drivers can charge vehicles while staying or visiting nearby attractions. The model is designed to support both fully electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, combining charging availability with tourism experiences.
“E-mobility isn't just a promise for the future, it's already part of the present,” said Tomás Vicuña, B2C deputy manager at Copec Voltex, noting that the corridor helps extend charging access to more regions while encouraging adoption.
The launch adds to a growing network of “green corridors” developed in Chile, following earlier projects in regions such as O’Higgins, Maipo Valley and Elqui Valley. Together, these initiatives aim to create a connected national charging network aligned with the expansion of e-mobility.
