Daiquiri-selling c-store to expand in Texas

Eskimo Hut, which currently has 27 units across Texas, has entered into agreements that will develop 27 new multiunit stores in various locations including Lubbock, Arlington, Bryan/College Station, Copperas Cove, Fort Worth, Granbury, Killeen, San Antonio, and San Marcos, according to CSPnet.com.

New store designs, which offer more functionality and distinctive style, are also expected as the company works with Houston-based Studio Red Architects.

The first Eskimo Hut store opened in Amarillo, Texas in 1996. Since then the convenience store has become known for offering a drive-thru service where customers can order everything available in the store including the popular frozen daiquiris called Eskimo Snow.

The Eskimo Snow and another in-house specialty frozen margaritas are wine-based and sold in a cup and sealed plastic bag so as not to violate the state’s open container law and prohibition against mixing hard liquor in to-go beverages, according to Convenience Store News.

"We do want to expand outside of Texas in time, but there are very few states that allow similar alcohol business," said Eskimo Hut CEO Kevin Morgan.
