DeinFach and myflexbox join forces on open parcel lockers

The Deutsche Post subsidiary will gradually fold into the Austrian provider's brand, creating a multi-carrier network of around 3,000 stations across Germany and Austria, with 50,000 lockers targeted by 2030.

DeinFach, the Deutsche Post AG subsidiary that runs parcel lockers open to all carriers, is merging with Austria's myflexbox. The combined infrastructure of around 3,000 stations in Germany and Austria will run under the myflexbox name, and DeinFach will be phased out step by step.

Open parcel stations let users receive and send shipments from different delivery companies at one location. The merged system will complement Deutsche Post's roughly 19,000 DHL Packstations in Germany. The partners say the deal will make better use of existing sites and avoid duplicate installations. They also expect it to make integration simpler for municipalities, retailers and property owners.

"Together with myflexbox, we are making open parcel stations accessible to even more people. We are using existing locations, opening up additional ones and thereby shortening the distances for consumers," said Lukas Beckedorff, Managing Director of DeinFach. "This makes receiving and sending parcels even easier for millions of people in Germany and Austria."

Jonathan Grothaus, CEO and Founder of myflexbox, said: "We are delighted to have found a partner in DeinFach that shares our vision. Together, we are taking the expansion of the largest open parcel station network to a new level."

By 2030, Deutsche Post AG plans to give consumers in Germany access to about 50,000 parcel lockers, and more than half will be open myflexbox units. Over the longer term, the company wants most people in the country to be able to reach a parcel station within a five- to ten-minute walk.
