Dubai expands its EV charging network at gas stations
Nine charging stations will be integrated into Enoc/Eppco service stations across the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
In partnership with the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa), the Emirates National Oil Company finished the installation of the first seven charging stations in February 2016, while the last will be completed in the coming weeks.
“This project highlights our commitment to sustainability and our strategy to promote the use of electric cars, in line with the Dubai Government’s Smart City initiative. We are thankful to Enoc for its support in providing their facilities to establish the infrastructure needed to facilitate the implementation,” said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice-Chairman of Enoc Group and Managing Director and CEO of Dewa.
As part of the vision from Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to turn Dubai into the “smartest” city in the world, the first EV charging station was installed last year, February 2015.
