EnBW opens first fast charging park at Leipzig/Halle Airport
Eight ultra-fast charging points are now available in collaboration with Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG, second site in Dresden to follow in September.
EnBW and Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG (MFAG) have officially launched the first fast charging park at Leipzig/Halle Airport, bringing high-speed electric vehicle (EV) charging to one of central Germany’s key transportation hubs.
The site features eight High Power Charging (HPC) points with a capacity of up to 400 kW, enabling compatible EVs to gain up to 400 kilometers of range in just 15 minutes. Located directly in front of the airport’s central terminal, the site offers convenient access for travelers, visitors, and those passing through the nearby A9 and A14 motorways.
“Whether picking up loved ones or traveling for business, EV users at Leipzig/Halle Airport can now conveniently charge their vehicles on site,” said Volker Rimpler, CTO E-Mobility at EnBW.
EnBW plans to expand the Leipzig/Halle site to 20 charging points as demand grows. Additionally, a second fast charging park is under construction at Dresden Airport, also operated by MFAG, and is expected to open in September 2025 with 12 HPC chargers, expandable to 40.
“Charging infrastructure like this is essential to enabling climate-friendly transportation, especially at intermodal travel hubs like ours,” added Katrin Lässig, SVP Real Estate at MFAG.
EnBW currently operates around 50 large covered fast charging parks across Germany and more than 7,000 fast charging points nationwide. The company aims to expand its network to 20,000 charging points by 2030, building a dense, reliable infrastructure to support Germany’s accelerating shift to electric mobility.
