EnBW tests new XCharge fast-charging stations in Germany
Expanded field trial aims to strengthen network resilience and diversify suppliers.
German EV charger operator EnBW is testing new charging technology from XCharge as part of its strategy to enhance resilience and reduce dependency on single suppliers. The company has installed ten XCharge chargers across four locations, including Stuttgart and Karlsruhe, following promising lab and real-world results.
“The dependency on a single supplier carries risks, especially in times of global uncertainty and supply chain challenges,” said Volker Rimpler, Chief Technology Officer E-Mobility at EnBW. “That’s why we continuously review supplier markets and test promising technologies to make our supply chains robust and cost-efficient.”
XCharge, which manages its international operations from Hamburg and Austin, Texas, has met EnBW’s requirements in technology, service, data protection, and software during two years of testing. “XCharge fulfills all technical and regulatory standards, and this extended test is a key milestone for us,” added Albina Iljasov, Head of Europe at XCharge.
The results of this trial will guide EnBW’s future collaboration with XCharge, reinforcing its commitment to quality and innovation. “Our customers can rely on us to maintain the highest standards for charging experience,” Rimpler emphasized. “Resilience is the keyword of the hour.”
