Eni SpA signs two-year accord with operators of retail network
ENI SpA signed in late December an accord with the operators and workers of its Italian fuel retail network which includes the economic conditions that will regulate their relationship for a two-year period ending in 2016, according to a press release published by three Italian fuel retail related organizations named Faib, Fegica and Figisc.
The accord “is the final act of a complex negotiation phase characterized also by tensions which made necessary the activation of a mediation offered by the ministry of Economic Development but that in the end sets a new basis for recovering industrial and union relations,” the statement published in late December said.
The accord involves agreements for the restructuring of the fuel distribution and of other issues aimed at increasing the competitiveness of the stations that are part of this fuel network, it added.
The joint statement concluded that the accord provides a direction to rebuild “market conditions minimally capable to once again attract investments.”

The FAIB is the Italian Federation of Autonomous Fuel Retailers (Federazione Autonoma Italiana Benzinai) while the Fegica stands for Federation of Operators of Fuel and Related Products (Federazione Italiana Gestori Carburanti e Afini). The Figisc stands for Federazione Italiana Gestori Impianti Stradali Carburanti (Italian Federation of Operators of Road Fuel Stations).
Eni, formerly known as Ente Nazionale Idrocarburi, was created in 1953 and was originally headed by Enrico Mattei who was the organization president until 1962. It became a publicly traded company with shares listed in 1992. Its Agip fuel network includes nearly 6000 service stations in all of Europe, according to information available in Wikipedia.
