Environment-friendly Montreal to install 106 EV charging stations
Canadian city Montreal has taken a big step towards sustainability by approving a plan to build 106 new electric vehicle (EV) charging stations by June next year.
There a more than 7,000 electric cars registered in Quebec and more than half of those are in Montreal, according to the government.
“The more you see those recharge device, the more you will have people who will come with their electric cars or who will think to buy electric cars when they will change their vehicle,” said Mayor Denis Coderre.
The installation of 106 new charging points is part of Montreal´s plans of creating a more sustainable and environment-friendly city. They plan to have a network of 1,000 charging stations servicing 100,000 EVs by the year 2020, with the aim of reducing its greenhouse emissions by 30% in five years, reported the Montreal Gazette.
