Essar opens first UK gas station
Essar Oil UK, which has supplied major retail brands for over half a century through its Stanlow oil refinery, has recently opened its own retail station in the United Kingdom, according to a company release.
Essar’s first branded service station, launched in association with HKS Retail Limited, is located in Coalville, Leicestershire and one of the many Essar stations planned across the country.
“This is a significant step forward and part of our plans to add value to our UK business. Stanlow has a real legacy in terms of refining expertise and a long record of reliable supply to customers and we are now offering this directly on the forecourtin association with our dealers,” said SB Prasad, Chief Commercial Officer, Retail at Essar Oil UK.
Stanlow Refinery, located on the south side of the Mersey Estuary near Liverpool, also produces approximately 15% of UK transport fuels.
Essar Oil UK further aims to build a network over the coming months and is looking for potential new dealers, according to Bryan Hayes, Commercial Business Manager at Essar Oil UK.
"We feel the brand has a strong vision and the required resources to deliver a well-planned entry into the market, along with a strong team heading up the brand’s aspirations,” said Shane Thakrar, Chief Executive HKS retail Limited.
The Essar Group operates about 1,700 Essar branded retail outlets in India, with another 1,900 under various stages of implementation. The global Essar Group has annual revenues of US$35 billion, with operations in 29 countries and over 60,000 employees worldwide.
