Fastned opens 50th fast-charging station in Belgium
Milestone site accelerates e-mobility adoption along key Limburg routes.
Fastned has opened its 50th electric vehicle (EV) charging station in Belgium, located at the Genk-Oost carpool parking near exit 32 of the E314. The station features the company’s signature yellow canopy with solar panels and offers eight charging points, each delivering up to 400 kW of power.
All of Genk-Oost’s energy supplied comes from renewable sources, solar and wind. The location sits on one of Limburg’s main traffic corridors, close to an industrial zone and at a junction between Hasselt and Maastricht.
The carpool parking along Wiemesmeerstraat (N744) was developed in late 2024 by the Flemish Agency for Roads and Traffic (AWV) on the former city container park.
Fastned now operates nine fast-charging stations in Limburg: four along the E314, four along the E313, and one in Leopoldsburg. “Stations on carpool sites like Genk are key to making fast charging part of daily commuting,” said Matthias Pletinckx, Country Director at Fastned. “This milestone, achieved in just five years, reflects our ambition to make EV driving accessible to everyone.”
Fastned aims to reach 1,000 locations across Europe by 2030, including more than 100 in Belgium.
