Finland: Neste pilots filling station with automated shopping and refueling robot
The filling station will be tested with a selected test team before being introduced to customers.
To use the new system located in Siltamäki (Vantaa), customers will need a chip installation in the car for the robot to identify. This will enable the system to identify the make of car and the recommended fuel for it.
If the piloting and commissioning of the robotic refueling system are successful, Neste hopes to add robots to other filling stations as well. The company believes that in, the future, refueling will be possible through a robot arm without the customer leaving the car, which could be of aid for people with reduced mobility.
“The pilot station is about renewing the customer experience completely and identifying rapidly changing customer needs and expectations,” said Neste Executive Vice President for Marketing & Services business area, Panu Kopra.
The Neste Easy Deli round-the-clock shop at Siltamäki Neste Express filling station offers customers grab-and-go snacks, fresh groceries, and car-related products such as glass washing liquid.
