Gas filling network grows in Spain and Portugal
A total of 25 public gas filling stations have been opened in Spain (21) and Portugal (4) this year: 11 between January and July, and 14 during the second half.
A total of 25 publicly accessible natural gas stations have opened in Spain and Portugal this year, according to Gasnam, a leading source for natural gas filling stations on the Iberian Peninsula. Out of the 25 locations, 11 opened between January and July, and the remaining 14 during the second half of the year.
According to Gasnam's gas station map, 4 facilities were installed in Portugal, and 21 in Spain: 3 in Andalusia, Madrid and the Valencian Community; 2 in Castile and Leon, Castile-La Mancha, and the Basque Country; and 1 in Catalonia, Extremadura, Galicia, Murcia, and the Canary Islands, where Grupo Disa opened the first public CNG station in the archipelago.
A majority of the gas stations opened in Spain and Portugal during 2020 supply both CNG and LNG; while 9 stations only supply CNG, and another 2 only LNG.
According to Gasnam, Spain currently has a total of 147 natural gas refuelling points, with 98 CNG and 61 LNG stations. In addition, 35 CNG and 25 LNG filling stations have already been planned in the country.
As for the gas stations network in Portugal, the country has today 19 stations, of which 14 supply CNG and 10 LNG. In addition to these, 3 CNG and 1 LNG stations are already planned.
