Gas station employee accused of lottery fraud
A Chevron gas station worker has been accused of lottery fraud after police estimated she had stolen $850 worth of tickets.
Kelsee Adams, an employee at the Twin Stop Chevron in Addison Avenue West, Idaho, has appeared in court for supposedly scratching tickets to find winning numbers and putting the losing cards back for customers to buy, reported World Lottery.
Court documents reveal Adams scratched the bottom part of Idaho Lottery tickets enough to see the four numbers on the card, and then scanned them to find the valuable ones. The losing tickets would be put back for customer sale.
The fraud was exposed when a customer brought a winning ticket to the gas station, and when scanned the screen read “paid previously by you.”
After the incident, the company checked the records of employees who sold lottery tickets and the CCTV footage, with both pointing at Kelsee Adams as the fraud perpetrator. She will now face a preliminary court hearing on 4th September.
