Germany charging stations to tap the sun’s power
Electric vehicle charging stations in Germany become even cleaner with the latest partnership between IBC SOLAR AG, a global photovoltaic (PV) systems and energy storage firm, and EVBox, a global manufacturer of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations and charging management software.
"EVs will only produce less emissions if they are being powered by clean energy, such as solar-generated power," said Udo Möhrstedt, Founder and CEO of IBC Solar.
Under the agreement, EVBox will deliver IBC Solar with EV charging stations that will be integrated into the existing system of photovoltaics and energy storage.
The integration of EV chargers and solar energy is smart and simple. With a mobile app, customers are able to configure their charging times to maximize the usage of the solar power available in the grid, explained a company release.
At a starting cost of 10 cents per kWh (in Germany), a passenger car powered with solar will only cost around 2 euros for a 100-kilometer drive, the company added.
“Together, we believe we can advance eMobility in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland and help shape the future of transportation,” said Kristof Vereenooghe, CEO of EVBox.
