Germany: Rolande opens LNG filling station in the Port of Duisburg
The location is an important milestone for Rolande’s planned nationwide LNG filling station network in Germany, with more sites to open in 2020 and early 2021.
Duisburger Hafen AG and Rolande, a market leader in building infrastructures for liquefied natural gas and bio-LNG for trucks in the Netherlands, opened an LNG filling station in the Port of Duisburg, Germany.
Open to all LNG-fuelled commercial vehicles, Rolande new facility is a traditional public 24/7 self-serve petrol station with two LNG pumps. With a daily capacity for up to 150 vehicles and large driveways, the filling station will be specially dedicated to serve heavy-load trucks.
Following the opening of the first Rolande LNG filling station in Ulm, the Duisburg location is an important milestone for Rolande on the road to establish a nationwide public LNG filling station network in Germany, according to a company’s press release.
“Our first own station in Ulm is proof of how quickly and successfully LNG is being accepted in Germany. Just a few weeks after it opened in July 2020, the station became one of our strongest LNG filling stations in terms of sales in Europe,” said Jolon van der Schuit, CEO of Rolande.
Further locations are planned to open in 2020 and in early 2021 in Dortmund, Grasdorf, Lübeck, Ziesar and Hamburg. Each of these filling stations is already equipped at this time for a later use of bio-LNG.
The filling station in Duisburg is part of the Connect2LNG project that is financed by the CEF programme of the European Commission. The aim of the Connect2LNG project is the development of a European LNG fuelling network by commissioning five stations in Germany and France.
