GS Caltex, SK Energy parcel service venture to expand across South Korea
Homepick, a door-to-door parcel service venture jointly created by South Korean oil giants SK Energy and GS Caltex, is set to expand nationwide in August after its launch in the greater Seoul area last month.
More than 600 GS Caltex and SK Energy petrol stations all over South Korea will offer the gas station-based parcel service next month before its official public launch in September, reports The Korea Bizwire.
The service offers benefits both to gas station operators and their customers. Gas stations, becoming logistical hubs, will earn fees from renting out idle forecourt space as Homepick offices.
It offers more convenience to customers as it allows them to send packages, regardless of the size, from their doorsteps. Delivery start-up Zoomma collects packages from homes near each gas station and store them in the Homepick office until CJ Logistics staff pick up consignments of parcels to move to final destinations, explained Retail News Asia.
