GS25, operated by GS Retail, announced that it has exceeded 750 Fresh Concept Stores (FCS) across South Korea, and it plans to expand the format to 1,000 locations by next year as it continues to position itself as a go-to grocery destination for small households.

The FCS model focuses on grocery-oriented convenience retailing, offering between 300 and 500 products across fresh food categories, including produce, meat, seafood, and ready-to-eat meals. The format has gained traction as more consumers prefer smaller, more frequent shopping trips over bulk purchases.

According to GS25, the surge in one- and two-person households has been a key driver of growth. The retailer’s fresh food sales have recorded double-digit annual increases, up 23.7% in 2023, 25.6% in 2024, and 27.4% from January to September 2025.

A GS25 spokesperson said the company will continue to enhance its product range and store operations to meet evolving consumer needs: “We aim to strengthen product competitiveness and operational capabilities to become the leading channel for nearby grocery shopping for one- and two-person households.”

With over 750 stores already in operation, GS25’s Fresh Concept format is emerging as a cornerstone of its growth strategy, reflecting broader lifestyle shifts and the increasing demand for convenient, high-quality food retail options in South Korea.
