HPCL makes foray in Bhutan's fuel retail market
HPCL opened the first of 22 planned outlets as part of the their cooperation with STBCL in Bhutan.
Hindustan Petroleum Corp Ltd (HPCL) rolled out its first petrol station in Bhutan in partnership with State Trading Corporation of Bhutan (STBCL), a Government of Bhutan entity. The commissioning of this site marks HPCL’s foray in the retail petroleum industry outside of India, and fuels the company’s aspiration to expand into new regions.
"The outlet has the best of infrastructure facilities including full-automation. The staff deployed at the outlet have been trained at our Skill Development Institute in Visakhapatnam," HPCL said in a statement. "As per this MoU, HPCL will give technical and brand support to STBCL in setting up and running the outlets apart from supplying products to the outlets," the statement said.
HPCL is a subsidiary of Indian state-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC). The company owns 16,194 out of 68,032 petrol pumps in India.
