Indonesia: Pertamina considers exporting diesel
Indonesia’s Pertamina has received a license from the government to export diesel for the first time, although the state oil company is planning to prioritize domestic sales.
Sources close to Pertamina have said that for the first time the energy player could become a diesel exporter. Traditionally, the company has imported diesel but after ramping up its refining output and outperforming domestic demand, it could start selling fuel abroad.
The introduction of Pertamina diesel fuel in the market could ease the supply issues caused by Hurricane Harvey in Asia, according to Iran´s Financial Tribune.
Currently, Pertamina supplies around 70% of the country´s diesel need.
Supported by significant operating performance growth, the revenues during the first half of the year were US$20.5 billion – a 19% growth compared to the previous year.
