ISTOBAL achieves zero water disposal for car washes
Based on an ultrafiltration membrane bioreactor, it removes solids, turbidity, bacteria and viruses, and reduces organic load and presence of surfactants.
Spanish car wash supplier ISTOBAL claims to have achieved zero water disposal due its pioneering biological recycler with ultrafiltration system.
It is the first biological cleaning and recycling equipment capable of treating 100% of the water from the vehicle's exterior wash, according to the supplier.
Based on MBR (Membrane Bioreactor) technology, this equipment achieves optimum water quality resulting from the vehicle wash, removing solids, turbidity, 99% of bacteria and viruses, and reducing organic load and presence of surfactants.
Suitable for car, bus, tram and truck wash areas, this innovative water recycler saves on average 220 litres of water per car wash (300 litres per bus, 870 per train and 1160 per truck wash).
Countries such as Spain, France, New Zealand, Australia, the Netherlands and Poland have regulations and water restrictions that affect the car wash industry to the extent that they are prevented from doing business if they do not have recycling and reuse systems, such as in New Zealand.
The Spanish company has announced this on World Water Day.
