Kiwis are tired of lines at the pump

New survey by Kiwi retailer reveals that New Zealanders are sick of lines at petrol stations.

A recent survey from Gasoline Alley Services (GAS) has revealed that more than half of its sample of New Zealanders (56%) are tired of queues at the pump and are open to using apps that allow them to pay for fuel more quickly and easily from the comfort of their car.

Faster refuelling stood out with 78 percent of respondents giving it as their main motivation for using a mobile payment app. Other responses from the 848 people that were surveyed included not having to queue inside the shop (71%) and being able to look for and find nearby petrol stations (22%).

GAS, a 100% New Zealand owned company with almost 130 petrol stations using its brand around the country, ran the survey to determine the level of interest in its new GAS UP app.

The convenience of a fuel payment app appears to be most appealing to parents, business owners and those who have to commute or travel on a regular basis. More than a third of parents (38%) said that it would make managing the kids easier for them as they wouldn’t have to take them out of the car to pay for their fuel. Business owners claimed that the ability to store credit/debit card details and save receipts is a bonus with almost 30 percent saying that it would make their lives easier.
