Kum & Go sells ‘Founder’s Store’ to Casey’s
The family-owned retailer has agreed to sell one of its first convenience stores located in the hometown of its founder in Eldora, Iowa.
Family-owned convenience retail chain Kum & Go has announced it has entered into an agreement to sell one of its founding stores in Eldora, Iowa. The retailer has confirmed to have sold the convenience store to Casey’s.
The location is recognized as its ‘Founder’s Store’, with Eldora being the birthplace and hometown of the chain’s founder, William A. Krause. As it was always important for Krause to give back to his communities, that tradition has continued throughout the brand’s 60+ years of operations by giving 10% of profits back to the communities they serve each year.
“Eldora is a significant place in our company’s history and to my grandfather, where he was born, raised, and graduated high school. It has been an honour to connect with and serve the Eldora community all these years,” said Tanner Krause, Chief Executive Officer at Kum & Go.
While exiting the community, Kum & Go’s presence will still be felt. The company is working with the high school on a renovation project that will benefit the community for years to come.
