Kwik Trip switch to pre-pay at their fuel pumps

The 700-store chain will only let customers fuel their vehicles after having pre-paid at the pump or the store.

U.S. convenience and fuel retail chain Kwik Trip will no longer allow customers to pay for fuel inside the store. Drivers stopping at their sites for fuel will either have to pre-pay or pay the pump.

The change, which will go into effect on January 3, is aimed at improving customers service and give in-store workers more time, reported the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Guests will still be able to use cash or checks to pre-pay inside before fueling their vehicle's gas tank, with the ability to get a refund after filling up.

"When our co-workers spend so much time watching the fuel islands for drive-offs, they can't really focus on guest service in the stores," said Kwik Trip spokesperson Dave Niemi.

Headquartered in La Crosse, Kwik Trip has more than 700 locations in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa.
