LEAP24 enhances Roermond charging hub to support Netherlands e-trucks
Upgraded facility to offer extended drive-through lanes, overnight charging, and increased capacity for heavy-duty electric transport.
LEAP24 has announced the expansion of its high-traffic charging station in Roermond, located in the heart of Limburg’s logistics corridor in the Netherlands. The upgrade will transform the existing site into a full-fledged charging hub for electric trucks, capable of accommodating vehicles up to 16.5 meters in length.
The revamped station will include extended drive-through lanes specifically designed for large electric trucks, increased charging capacity, and PartnerPark spaces dedicated to overnight charging. The project is partially funded through the SPULA subsidy, underscoring government support for sustainable heavy transport solutions.
According to Ferry Bosgra, COO at LEAP24, the expansion comes in response to the accelerating demand for e-truck charging infrastructure. “This demand is driven not only by the upcoming zero-emission zones, but also by the road freight tax expected to take effect in mid-2026,” he explained.
In parallel, the Dutch government is tripling its purchase subsidy for electric trucks, making the switch from diesel more financially viable and increasing the need for well-equipped charging locations.
The construction is being carried out in collaboration with TSG Netherlands, with careful planning to ensure that the station remains fully operational throughout the build. Work is expected to conclude by the end of October 2025.
