Mexico: Femsa to launch own “Oxxo Gas” brand

Fomento Económico Mexicano, S.A.B. de C.V. (FEMSA), the world’s biggest independent Coca-Cola bottler and owner of the convenience store chain Oxxo, is set to launch fuel stations under the brand Oxxo Gas on July 6 in the Mexican city of Monterrey, reported 20minutos.com.mx.

The idea behind this is to consolidate under one brand FEMSA’s more than 300 stations, according to an article published on noventagrados.com.mx.

The Mexican beverage and retail giant currently operates 307 petrol stations all over the country, which have generated 18,500 million pesos in sales in 2015.

More fuel stations are expected to open in other parts of Mexico as a result of the Energy Reform Act, a law that has liberalized the country’s oil and gas industry.
