Motor Fuel Group (MFG), one of the UK's largest independent forecourt operators, has joined the Petrol Retailers Association (PRA). The company has added its over 900 sites into membership of the organisation amidst a tumultuous context for the fuel retail industry in Europe.

“In the last twelve months we have had to deal with fuel shortages, a European war, record pump prices, climate activists, Competition & Market Authority (CMA) investigations and record electricity prices. We have worked hard to represent independent forecourts throughout these unprecedented times and I am delighted that MFG will be joining the PRA family,” said Gordon Balmer, Executive Director of the PRA.

MFG is currently offering its customers a growing dual-fuel strategy as well as a convenient retail and ‘food to go’ portfolio. The company has scaled up its alternatives strategy to set up several charging sites with various sizes across the region to accompany the transition of the industry.

“In these challenging times, we believe that the independent sector should be acting with one strong voice to the benefit of all forecourt operators whatever their size. We are excited to be part of the PRA team and will actively support its wide-ranging activities,” added Jeremy Clarke, Chief Operating Officer at MFG.

Recently, MFG announced its plans to remove auto-LPG from all its forecourts by 2024. The fuel retailer believes this will help introduce EV charging hubs and better grocery offerings.
