MobilityPlaza launches Ambassador program

MobilityPlaza has named Jörg M. Heilingbrunner, CEO of Scheidt & Bachmann Energy Retail Solutions, and Alex Sanchez, Lead Business IT Infrastructure Expert at Q8, as the inaugural ambassadors.

MobilityPlaza has announced the launch of its Ambassador program, a new initiative designed to bring authoritative expert voices to the forefront of the global mobility and convenience retail conversation. The program names a designated industry expert for a specific theme or market each year, with ambassadors contributing opinion articles, podcast appearances, and expert commentary to MobilityPlaza's international audience of senior decision-makers.

Two senior figures have been named as the program's inaugural ambassadors, with a ceremony planned for the MobilityPlaza International Reception at UNITI expo 2026 in Stuttgart on May 20.

Jörg M. Heilingbrunner, CEO of Scheidt & Bachmann Energy Retail Solutions, takes on the role of Mobility Ambassador. At the helm of the company since 2011, Heilingbrunner has led its transformation toward cloud-based solutions and agile working models, cementing its position as an innovation leader in payment and energy retail. He brings over 25 years of entrepreneurial experience in the petrol station and mobility sectors, as well as a long-standing connection to both UNITI and MobilityPlaza. "It's both an honour and a responsibility," he said.

"With more than 25 years in the industry, this role reflects my long-standing involvement — and I see my role in connecting perspectives, taking a European view while also looking to the US and China, especially in AI and e-mobility. The industry is at a defining moment shaped by the energy transition. Challenges like geopolitics, energy security, and cost pressure are increasing — but so are the opportunities: multi-offer environments, more automation, stronger partner ecosystems, and new energy solutions.”

Alex Sanchez, Lead Business IT Infrastructure Expert at Q8, becomes the program's first Technology Ambassador. Based in Antwerp, Sanchez leads Q8Truck's Business IT Infrastructure team, overseeing payment technology including the Q8Truck Fuel Card and its authorization and payment infrastructure. He has spent seven years at Q8 and brings a hands-on understanding of the systems underpinning modern mobility retail. "I'm incredibly grateful and deeply humbled to be part of this program," he said. "The mobility and convenience business is at a tipping point — challenged by population growth, unstable markets, rising energy costs, and the climate transition. Technology is not just a tool here; it is central to how our industry will navigate and shape its future. I'm eager to contribute to that conversation and help build a common understanding among industry leaders."

As the mobility and convenience retail sector navigates one of the most consequential transitions in its history (from energy mix to digital infrastructure, from consumer behaviour to geopolitical disruption) the need for clear, experienced voices has never been greater. MobilityPlaza launched the Ambassador program precisely to meet that need: to ensure that the people driving change are also part of the conversation defining it.
