Murphy USA looks to foray into new store formats

The retailer is testing new designs to improve on traffic flow and queue areas at its QuickCheck branded sites for further expansion.

Murphy USA seeks to enhance the customer experience throughout its stores via new formats. The company has stated that new formats are being piloted through the QuickCheck brand to improve traffic flow and queue areas for consumers.

According to a report by news site C-store Dive, the info was revealed by R. Andrew Clude, President and CEO of the company, during its Q2 earning call. The representative referred to the transformation of 2,800-square-foot sites as well as tapping into data and machine learning to update its loyalty programs.

Murphy’s CEO referred to the QuickCheck locations as “the perfect test-and-learn environment,” for these new formats. This new layout is being piloted at three US regions and a larger rollout is being planned for the near future.

The transformation looks to prioritize the sale of grab-and-go items alongside grab-and-reheat foods and  self-serve drinks. A new “store of tomorrow” concept for these stores was also brought up during the call, which is said to be launched during 2024.
