Murphy USA names Mindy West as next CEO

Her promotion follows a period of steady expansion reaching more than 1,770 sites across 27 states.

Murphy USA Inc. has announced that Chief Operating Officer Mindy K. West will succeed Andrew Clyde as president and CEO, marking a significant leadership transition for the U.S. fuel and convenience retailer.

West, who joined Murphy Oil Corporation (Murphy USA’s former parent company) in 1996, will take over on January 1, 2026, and join the company’s board of directors. Clyde, who has led Murphy USA since its 2013 spin-off, will retire from the board at the end of 2025 but remain an advisor through early 2027.

Board Chairman Madison Murphy described the appointment as ensuring “continuity of leadership,” citing West’s “deep expertise” in the company’s operations and industry. Clyde praised her as “pivotal” in shaping Murphy USA’s strategy and expressed confidence in her ability to guide the company’s next phase of growth.

West has held a series of leadership roles across finance, human resources, and fuels operations, including serving as executive vice president, CFO, and treasurer before becoming COO in 2024. Her promotion follows a period of steady expansion and profitability for Murphy USA, which now operates more than 1,770 sites across 27 states.
