New Fuel Quality Council to look into fuel engine breakdown
The Fuels Institute, founded by US-based NACS, the Association for Convenience & Fuel Retailing in 2013, has launched the Fuel Quality Council (FQC), an initiative which will determine issues surrounding diesel fuel engine breakdown.
The FQC will conduct research to determine the relationship between engine performance and diesel fuel quality.
The initiative is a cross-industry collaboration, which will involve engine manufacturers, fuel retailers, biofuel producers, additive manufacturers, among others, “coming together to share knowledge, evaluate available data and seek greater understanding of the existing challenges and possible solutions available,” said Fuels Institute Executive Director John Eichberger.
According to Convenience Store News, the founding members are Afton Chemical Co., Andeavor, Center for Quality Assurance, Detroit Diesel Corp., Donaldson Co., ExxonMobil, Innospec Fuel Specialties, Kum & Go, Loves Travel Stops, Mansfield Oil Co., NATSO, NREL, Pilot Flying J, Seneca Cos., Vulcan Materials Co., National Biodiesel Board, and Steel Tank Institute.
The Fuels Institute encourages industry stakeholders to be part of the Council.
