New Zealand: Z Energy tests ‘fast-lanes’ at its stations
Z Energy is trialling a ‘fast-lane’ at some of its service stations in New Zealand that will allow customers to refuel without leaving their cars.
A new system that is connected to Z Energy’s app will let drivers stop at the location, fill up and leave. The ‘fast-lane’ connects the Z App with on-site cameras and payment technology. At some of the stations there will even be attendants allowing customers to remain in the car throughout the whole process.
"It's responding to what our customers are telling us, which is 'hey, we've got busy days, you're an interruption to our busy day, how can you make it faster and easier for us'," said CEO Mike Bennetts on RadioLIVE.
The ‘fast lane’ won’t be for all, however. A $200 hold will be put on the driver’s card until they’ve finished the transaction.
The trial will be taking place at nine stations around New Zealand, including six in Auckland and three in Christchurch.
