Nigeria's fuel workers suspend 3-day strike
A Nigerian oil labour union has suspended a nationwide three-day strike after successful talks with the government on Wednesday.
The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) will not go on strike for job losses suffered at gas stations and oil tankers after talking to the government, reports CNBC Africa.
"We have decided to suspend the three day strike that commenced today and also asked our members... to do all that is necessary to keep the industry flowing," said Igwe Achese, President of NUPENG, after meeting with the country´s labour minister.
Nigeria´s oil and fuel industry suffered the slump in oil prices during the last two years, pushing the country into recession and having a negative effect on jobs.
