North Dakota welcomes first Amazon Go store
Enerbase Cooperative is introducing the company’s ‘Just Walk Out’ technology at its Minot Cenex location.
Enerbase Cooperative Resources has launched the Midwest’s first convenience store equipped with Amazon’s ‘Just Walk Out’ technology.
The company integrated smart capabilities into its new Cenex retail location in Minot, North Dakota. The store introduces this advanced system to enhance customer convenience while maintaining its commitment to personalized service, as reported by NACS.
While the system allows shoppers to enter, select their items, and leave without a checkout process, the store maintains a strong focus on traditional customer service.
"As a cooperative, we’re always looking for ways to improve operations and deliver the best service to our members and customers. Bringing this technology to the c-store allows our team to focus on providing the best experience for the factors we can’t automate, like welcoming guests, answering their questions, changing their oil, and checking their tire pressure," said Ricky Aberle, CEO of Enerbase.
To ensure smooth integration, the company developed a 3D model of the store to accurately position the system’s cameras and sensors. The retailer also designed a dedicated lobby area adjacent to the Amazon entry gate to allow customers to pay for fuel inside, purchase age-restricted items and access restrooms.
