ORLEN expands fuel retail reach in Slovakia with two new self-service stations
With a total of 26 sites in the country, the firm aims to continue its expansion to operate 50 facilities by the end of the year.
ORLEN Group has opened 2 new self-service stations in the western region of Slovakia, adding up to a total of 26 sites in the country. By the end of the year, the company aims to extend its network to a total of 50 facilities and, after acquiring another 41 locations from Hungary's MOL, it will become one of the three largest networks in the market.
The new stations have been established in Pečeňady and Pernek, as part of the rebranding of the 25 points of sale acquired from a local chain back in April. Rebranding of all stations in the package is planned to be completed by the end of 2022.
“We are consistently implementing our strategic assumptions, both by building our own stations and by acquiring ready-made facilities. A good example is Slovakia, where within 3-4 years we will be among the largest networks in this market. Ultimately, we want our network of 3,500 stations to be the most modern and responsive to customers' needs in Central Europe," said Daniel Obajtek, CEO of PKN ORLEN.
The new stations offer EFFECTA fuels and are fully automated. In total, the firm operates 4 stations in the Slovak market in self-service format, complementing the offer of non-fuel facilities.
Since 2019, the ORLEN Group has been operating in Slovakia after opening its first fuel station in Malacky. The development of the network is based on the construction of new outlets and the acquisition of existing ones. The network belongs to the Czech ORLEN Unipetrol Group, part of the ORLEN Group. Currently, ORLEN Group also holds an approx. 15% share in the wholesale fuel market in Slovakia.
