Pilot rolls out self-order kiosks and mobile ordering
The US operator has completed the technology upgrade at Wendy's and Arby's locations, with Subway installations currently underway.
Pilot Travel Centers is modernising the food ordering experience across its quick-service restaurant network, installing brand-native digital ordering platforms at its Wendy's, Arby's and Subway locations throughout North America.
The rollout includes 156 self-order kiosks across 78 Wendy's locations, allowing guests to customise meals, manage ingredients and place orders independently. The kiosks are ADA-compliant and designed to reduce wait times for drivers on the road.
Beyond in-store technology, the upgrades connect Pilot's restaurant locations to each brand's own mobile apps, loyalty programmes and third-party delivery platforms. That means guests can earn reward points, access brand promotions and order through delivery apps directly from participating travel centre locations.
"As guest expectations continue to evolve, Pilot is committed to delivering the same convenient, technology-enabled experience travellers enjoy at their favourite restaurant brands," said Gemma Patterson, Senior Director of Restaurant Relations and E-Commerce at Pilot.
The initiative reflects a broader shift in travel retail, where operators are under growing pressure to match the digital convenience standards set by standalone quick-service chains.
