Plaid Pantry establishes first EV charger

The retailer has partnered with Electric Era to install the equipment at one of its retail locations in Portland, Oregon.

Plaid Pantry has established its first electric vehicle (EV) charger at one of its retail locations. The equipment has been established at a branded store located in Portland, Oregon, and opened to the public during a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

For this milestone, the retailer has partnered with Electric Era to equip the site with its PowerNode EV fast charging station. The company, recently founded by three former SpaceX engineers, has more than 10 commercial installations planned across the United States this year.

“We’re proud to lead the way in providing our Portland-area customers with premium, reliable EV fast charging. Now, as the go-to location to quickly charge their EV in minutes while making a pit stop or picking up snacks for the road, Plaid Pantry is modeling the future of refill for customers,” said Jonathan Polonsky, Chairman and CEO of Plaid Pantry.

Customers will be able to charge their EVs at the location and expect a 10-minute charge to deliver 100 miles of range, depending on the vehicle age and onboard technology. Electric Era’s goal is to reach 10,000 PowerNode EV fast charging station installations across the U.S. by 2030.

Plaid Pantry is a 24-hour convenience store chain based in Beaverton, Oregon, originally founded in 1963 and aims to be an easy-to-get-to, bicycle-friendly neighborhood corner store.
