PVOIL, FatHopes Energy launch Vietnam’s first used cooking oil network
Partnership aims to build a national used cooking oil collection ecosystem to support sustainable aviation fuel production and strengthen Vietnam’s circular economy.
PetroVietnam Oil Corporation (PVOIL)and FatHopes Energy have entered into a strategic partnership to establish Vietnam’s first nationwide used cooking oil (UCO) collection network, creating a new supply chain for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and other advanced biofuels.
The initiative combines FatHopes Energy’s expertise in waste-based feedstock collection and digital traceability with PVOIL’s nationwide network of approximately 1,000 fuel stations and logistics infrastructure. The companies said the project will create a fully integrated system for collecting, tracking and managing UCO from households, restaurants, industrial kitchens and food processing facilities across Vietnam.
The rollout will begin in Ho Chi Minh City before expanding nationwide. According to the partners, the project is designed to support circular economy practices by converting waste oil into certified renewable feedstock for SAF production.
The partnership is expected to facilitate the collection of more than 200,000 tonnes of feedstock annually in Vietnam. These volumes will support FatHopes Energy’s planned refinery, which is being developed as a regional hub for processing waste-based feedstocks into sustainable aviation fuel.
“This partnership represents far more than the launch of a Used Cooking Oil collection programme. It marks the beginning of a new circular economy for Vietnam,” said Vinesh Sinha, CEO of FatHopes Energy.
PVOIL Trans, a subsidiary of PVOIL, will lead local implementation and expansion of the collection network, engaging businesses and communities across the country.
