RAW Charging and Sunderland AFC have partnered to develop what they describe as the largest public electric vehicle (EV) charging hub in northeast England, located at the club’s Stadium of Light.

The project will feature 20 ultra-rapid charging bays, including 16 chargers rated at 150 kW and four units capable of delivering up to 300 kW. The hub is expected to serve football supporters, visitors and local residents while expanding public charging access in the region.

Powered entirely by renewable energy, the installation is part of Sunderland AFC’s Ready Eco program, which aims to make the club energy self-sufficient through renewable sources by 2028 and achieve net-zero emissions by 2040.

The charging point operator is investing approximately £750,000 in the project and will be responsible for funding, operating and maintaining the charging infrastructure. The chargers will be branded under the Ready Eco banner, further integrating the facility into the club’s sustainability strategy.

The project adds to RAW Charging’s growing UK network, which includes installations at retail, leisure and hospitality destinations. For Sunderland AFC, the facility represents another step in its effort to combine sustainability initiatives with enhanced services for supporters and visitors.
